HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU NEED A NEW ECU

OR IF IT CAN BE REPAIRED OR FLASHED TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM?

IS USING A USED UNIT OK FOR YOUR CAR, LIGHT TRUCK, BUS/COACH,

 RV OR TRACTOR RIG?

With our 15+ years specifically dedicated to ECM ECU PCM repair and supply,

we know when we can offer you a repair service, a rebuilt exchange  unit,

a reprogramming service or a quality used  product.  Whichever is the requirement

or the customer preference, with the emphasis on the best available product for the

best price!  Sometimes with  factory security systems & immobilizers SKIS/SKIM on

many OBD-II MODELS 1996-UP,  the dealer or factory is the only option.  Other times

we can provide a factory rebuilt unit that can be flashed with the recipient vehicles

VIN calibration info.  Now you can benefit from our insiders knowledge and research!

 ECU ECM PCM

The Electronic Control Unit (ECU), Electronic Control Module (ECM), Power Control Module

 (PCM)

The ECM/ECU controls the fuel injection system, ignition timing, and the idle speed control

system. When needed for power transfer or safety measures, the ECM/ECU also interrupts

the operation of the air conditioning and initiates idle surge when sensing braking in

automatic transmission vehicles. ECM's/ECUs control EGR systems and initiates voltage

reference signal power to the fuel pump (through the control relay) for start up. The basic

model ECM/ECU consists of an 8-bit microprocessor, random access memory (RAM), read

only memory (ROM), and an input/output interface.

Also referred to as the "BRAIN BOX" the ECM/ECU is the central processor unit of the

vehicles ignition, power and electrical systems.  Based on information from the input

sensors (crank angle (when applicable), throttle position, engine coolant temperature,

air flow, etc.), the ECM/ECU determines optimum settings for the output actuators

(ignition timing, injection, idle speed, etc.).

  ECM FAILURE:  FACT OR FICTION

If you have a car manufactured between 1985-2002, OBD-I and OBD-II, your engine

management system ECM(s) and body control computers may have a higher propensity

for failure and may fail eventually. This is likely due to several factors including the

mounting and location of the units, and a critical implementation and utilization of

internal components that have proved to have inherent intolerance to heat. "Normal"

usage included the mounting location of the units which often meant the components

in over 100F temperature sometimes. The current through the lands of the units also

led to many problems that have been occurring separately and some indirectly

affecting other controllers with adverse affects. Some components often will intermittently

loose there ability to function properly such as storing a voltage charge for future use or

providing a clean voltage signal for proper operation. Eventually they can lead to other

fatal malfunctions of other components including injectors, coils, actuators which can in

turn be another diagnostic nightmare. These components were used by the millions in

hundreds of applications by among others: Mitsubishi, Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Acura,

Ford, OKI, Kefico, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Allison & CAT in the manufacturing of their

 ECMs.

So the fact is there is a huge problem, BUT it can and must be addressed or you could

be one of millions who have been paying too much for diagnosis & repair or living with a

malfunctioning vehicle engine management system and or engine diagnostic system.

All the units must be retrofitted with higher rated and stronger components and the

damage must be cleaned and continuity and flow restored and sometimes reprogramming

must be done. Without this the ECU can not function at optimum level for fuel and

emission factors, and the main diagnostic tool, the ECU cannot be relied on for diagnostic

data. Our company has over 15 years in the auto and heavy duty ECU electronics

 diagnostics and service specialization.

*Many ECM/ECU models are no longer available at the dealerships which lowers supply and increases

demand.  We work with a factory and offer many models mentioned above. However, many models

require programming to the unit to the vehicle VIN & mileage and certain applications require additional

information only the customer or dealer can provide.  Many ECUs are ready and available and need only

  to be programmed and shipped.

WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING TO THE VEHICLE FOR ON-CAR FLASH AND THE

 SOMETIMES NECESSARY KEY RELEARN PROCESS!

Please check with your dealer to ensure if you will have any additional necessary on-vehicle

flashing/programming or system relearn or re-keying.  Many models have factory anti-theft security

immobilizers and some have transponders in the keys which can be problematic to the consumer.

When necessary this many times can only be done by the dealer or authorized service center with the

proper equipment. Some units may only require a simple "key-relearn" process which can be done by

the shop or installer or owner, but they usually require both keys and the proper steps MUST BE

FOLLOWED OR THE SECURITY SYSTEM WILL LOCK YOU OUT. This is again is a manufacturers

anti-theft measure and has nothing to do with the product.

There are many other ECUs of which there may require us to acquire a unit from the factory or other

sources that can be just like ordering from your dealer.  These units are all considered special order

products.  They may have as much as a 2-5 business day back order before they can be sent through

our authorized programming department.  Payments must be received before the order is made. But

all orders will be filled as soon as available and first paid is first shipped.

We are not responsible for incorrect information provided by the customer or dealer or repair facility.

So we always recommend to acquire a second opinion on diagnosis. Like my father always said,

"measure twice, cut once". This being said, we will try and provide you with as much useful information

to assist you, but we cannot sell a part to have it used as a diagnostic tool and to be returned.

Nor can you or we afford to have a unit damaged by the host vehicle. So be diligent in the diagnosis

and subsequent solving of any and all problems that may have caused the electronic controller failure.

 * Not all units are repairable. In the event we receive a unit that is determined not  repairable, we will issue a credit for the

repair cost or we will give credit towards a replacement unit. A replacement unit when available will be an additional cost

due to our requirement to obtain a core unit for repair attempt. We will not charge you additional money without your

approval. The additional core cost depends on availability. If it does not fit into your budget, we will not pursue a replacement

with no obligation to you.  Most ECM/ECU/PCM units require component replacement and upgraded parts to function

properly after 3-5 years of normal usage or 35K-50K miles. When we repair any unit, we automatically use better rated high

performance components than original when available. All known problematic component parts are retrofitted with upgraded

parts and any damage is repaired and continuity restored.  Also we neutralize any corrosive substances that may be present to

not further degrade the computer. When the process is complete the unit is most often restored to OEM or higher standards.

If your problems are not rectified by our repair procedures, it is often due to other components or parts that may be defective

on your vehicle.  Many times we have actual test cars on-site to test our work  for quality assurance. We will offer assistance

when additional problems persist to assist you in diagnosing additional problems. After the repair service, the unit should be

reliable again as an engine management system and engine diagnostic system to further assist in getting you back on the road

quickly and saving hundreds of dollars.

** Exchange means we provide a remaned programmed (when applicable) tested unit which is sent to you and we REQUIRE

YOU TO RETURN THE ORIGINAL "CORE" UNIT.  An additional core fee will be assessed if your core unit is not

returned or you have no core.  Also in many cases if your core unit is returned and is not in repairable condition

(water damage, fire damage, excessive internal damage etc) a core fee will be charged.
