The ECM for engine control is located under the console area near the firewall of engine compartment inside the car. To find it you must remove the small plastic decorative caps and remove the Phillips head screws on both sides of center console area. This area is under the shifter and emergency brake. After removing screws from both sides, remove the trim panels on both sides to expose the areas under the console. Now look toward the front of the car in the center, under the stereo & A/C area of dash. The ECM is sitting upside-down with 3 plugs in it. It is gold in color and the size is approximately 6"x5"x1.5". You will need a 10mm or 12mm socket or wrench to unscrew the 3 fasteners holding the ECM in place. It is in there tight, so take your time. To remove the 3 plugs connecting the ECM to the wiring harness, you must depress the small tab in the center of each plug and pull down or in an outward motion. We are an auto parts rebuilder so we depend on the original unit(core) being returned to us. All "EXCHANGE" ECM units are delivered with a pre-paid return shipping label that comes with your receipt and warranty information. Simply put your old unit in the same box we shipped your new unit in, reseal it, put the pre-paid return shipping label on the box, and drop off at a Fedex or Fedex Kinko's near you. Some of the more rare boards or the Heavy Duty ECM's can take from 24-48 hours after we receive your unit. For repair service we offer free fedex ground pick-up. You only pay shipping if you want the bad core returned. If your board is not repairable we will try to find one on our shelf or purchase another core that is repairable. Be sure to get insurance for replacement value of unit(s) and keep the tracking number info. Most rebuilders do not use test vehicles they simply test your unit using a volt-meter. This is not an accurate way of testing and ECM/ECU. If your ECM/ECU runs in our test vehicle then it should run in yours. We do not have to guess like the other guys do. We also employ the MUT-II ECM scanner tester as used by MITSUBISHI/CHRYSLER. We offer FREE TESTING on most OBD-I DSM-MITSUBISHI units. IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all units are repairable. Many have significant damage that render a unit not repairable. location of ECS inside picture ECS unit 3000GT/Stealth/Diamonte ECS electronic controlled suspension unit removal directions: Be sure to remove the negative battery terminal before attempting removal of unit!! Many of the higher end Stealth/3000GT models and some Diamonte models have a computer controlled suspension option. These computers are located in the passenger rear hatch area. Remove the plastic window panel just to the right of the passenger rear tail light removal panel. There you will see the gray colored computer if you car is equipped with it. It is mounted by three screws. There is a harness with 2 smaller plugs in the unit.
